Peter on the mountain

The next afforestation area is east of the Peter auf'm Berge restaurant on Hermannsweg.

If you walk the Hermannsweg from the restaurant Peter auf'm Berge towards the television tower, the area to be planted is after 300 m on the right-hand side directly on the Hermannsweg. In the immediate vicinity runs the “Mönchspatt”, which formerly connected the Marienfeld monastery with the Lehenshof Krüger on Dornberger Str.

The area is bounded directly in the south by the steep break edge of a historic quarry, the Osningsandstein, from which many historic buildings in the area were built, was also formerly broken here.

We are in the immediate vicinity of the Sennberg in the poorest and driest locations of the Teutoburg Forest. The forest area slopes towards the south and has a very nutrient-poor soil due to the bedrock.

The area reference data:

The area to be reforested has an area size of approx. 0.9 ha.

After the storm Friedrike and the extreme drought of recent years, the existing stock was completely destroyed by the large calamity of the bark beetle.

On these south-sloping slopes with almost all-day sunshine and the low rainfall in the year, there is now the opportunity to create a climate-stable mixed deciduous forest that is suitable for the location:

For reforestation it is therefore suggested on this site:
Planting bandage 2.2 mx 1.2 m
Total number of plants on 0.9 ha = 3000 plants, which are distributed as follows:

45 pieces of wild apple and / or pear as border planting on Hermannsweg
295 pieces of winter linden
295 pieces of black cherry
2365 pieces of sessile oak
